Breast Enlargement

Many women decide to undergo breast enlargement surgery to increase the volume of their breasts

What is Breast Enlargement?

Breast enlargement surgery, or Boob Job also known as breast augmentation is one of the most popular procedures in the UK. Many women decide to undergo breast enlargement surgery to increase the volume of their breasts due to their naturally small size or following extreme weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How is Breast Enlargement Performed?

The procedure involves placing silicone implants under the breast tissue by making a small incision either around the nipple or under the breasts. The incision depends on the patients’ size of breasts, positioning of breasts, size of implants and shape of implants. The implants are placed either in front or behind the chest muscles depending on the size of the patient’s chest.

Round and Anatomical Breast Implants

There are two types of silicone implants used in breast enlargement surgery, namely round and anatomical. Round implants are very popular due to their fuller and proportioned shape. Alternatively, anatomical implants are shaped like a teardrop to mimic the natural look and feel of a real breast.

Both round and anatomical implants come in smooth and textured versions. Textured implants are designed to stay securely in their position, while smooth implants are less likely to ripple. During the initial consultation, your surgeon will take all this into consideration as well as your body type and desired results to choose the right breast shape and size for you.

Our surgeons use both MENTOR® and MOTIVA®, the leading breast implants approved by the FDA

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Breast enlargement?

Am I a suitable candidate for Breast Enlargement?

Breast enlargement surgery is one of the most popular procedures in the world. Many women decide to undergo breast enlargement surgery to increase the volume of their breasts due to their naturally small size or following extreme weight loss, pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What should I expect during my consultation with the surgeon?

During your consultation with the surgeon you will discuss your expectations and potential results, giving you a chance to decide together which size breast implants are best for you and your frame. He will go through your medical history and test results with you to ensure your suitability for the procedure. After clearly explaining how a Breast Enlargement is performed, he will physically examine you and draw detailed markings on your breasts. You will then be given information about your post-op recovery and be prepared for your surgery.

How long do breast implants last?

Typically, Breast Implants come with a 10-15 year warranty after which you may have to think about replacing them.

Will my breast implants be placed over or under the muscle?

Breast Implants can be placed either over the muscle or under the muscle. depending on the size and shape of the breast, the looseness of the skin and your existing breast tissue. In order to achieve the most natural results, your surgeon will decide the best option for you, explaining it in full detail during your physical consultation.

Can I breastfeed after Breast Enlargement surgery?

Yes absolutely! Breast Enlargement surgery will not affect your ability to breastfeed as this procedure doesn’t involve the ducts or the areas of your breasts involved in milk production.

When can I expect to return to work?

It depends on the type of job that you do. Normally, you can return to work within 10 days if your job is sedentary. For more active jobs we recommend taking up to 2 weeks off work because you must avoid any strenuous activities involving arm movement in the first 6 weeks following Breast Enlargement surgery.

Will I be left with scars?

Incisions from a Breast Enlargement are usually 2-3 cm long and they are positioned in the most discreet places making them almost invisible. Over time, any scars that you do have will fade and they will be barely noticeable.

When can I expect to see my results?

Most patients will start seeing their results after three months as that’s how long it can take for your breasts to heal. While you’ll see the size of your breasts straightaway, it’s common for breasts appear in a higher position right after surgery. Once your breasts are healed and your implants are settled, they will gradually “drop and fluff” into their natural position.

Don’t forget that specific results cannot be guaranteed as every individual has different bodies therefore everyone’s results will vary.

Should I bring a friend with me?

However, older women are likely to have a slower recovery. So older individuals may need to undergo additional medical assessments to ensure they can safely tolerate the procedure.
