How’s a Beard Transplant Performed?
The FUE procedure is also used for Beard Transplants to restore facial hair. Just like a hair transplant, it is minimally invasive and it doesn’t leave scarring, making it a popular technique for a lot of men. The donor area used for a beard transplant is either the side or back of the head, depending on where there’s more finer hair. Once the donor area is prepared, the surgeon uses a punch to extract the individual hair grafts and makes small incisions where the grafts will be transplanted.
It’s a Popular Technique with A Lot of Men
In order to promote natural hair growth, the grafts are then placed in a predetermined density and pattern at the right angle. The technicians generally do the final part of the procedure, inserting the individual grafts in place. A beard transplant is administered under local anaesthesia and depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted it usually lasts around 4-6 hours. Initial results can be noticed after just six months, while full results are expected after one year following surgery. The results will look natural and hair will continue to grow permanently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is beard transplant a painful procedure?
Beard transplant is performed under local anesthesia so you will not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
How long does a beard transplant procedure take?
Depending on the number of grafts to be transplanted it usually lasts around 4-6 hours.
When will I see the results?
You will start seeing the initial results only six months after surgery but it can take a year for you to see your final results. Hair follicles transferred to areas of loss will continue to grow for life.
Does hair grow back in the donor area?
Yes it does. A healthy scalp can show hair growth at the donor site within a few months. The donor area used for a beard transplant is either the side or back of the head, depending on where there’s more finer hair.
Will I have any scars on my face?
Our hair transplant surgeons are experts in their fields and when done by a specialized hair transplant surgeon, you will not have any scarring in the beard or reciepient area.
Are the results from a beard transplant permanent?
A Beard transplant is a permanent solution for hair loss and you will start seeing the initial results only six months after surgery. For optimum results, we will provide you with instructions on aftercare, medication and shampoos following your procedure. You may still lose your own hair due to various factors such as genetics and smoking, therefore you might need another beard transplant in the future.
Will I lose any hair after my beard transplant?
Two to three weeks after your beard transplant procedure, you will experience shedding. It is completely normal to shed your transplanted hair following DHI.
When can I trim my beard after my procedure?
We usually advise patients to wait a month before cutting their beard. At this point, the grafts’ll be secure and you’ll be fully headed.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the size of the area that is being treated and your desired look, so you might need more than one session. Your surgeon will discuss with you what look you are aiming to achieve and on that basis give you an estimate on the number of grafts he’s able to transplant during your procedure.
Is there a recommended age for beard transplant?
There is no minimum age requirement for undergoing beard transplant surgery. This is because some men can begin to notice balding or thinning of the beard in their late teens or early twenties.
